Visible Mending Mini Workshop

Do you have clothing items you love so much they are becoming worn out or maybe they are already filled with holes? Well there's no reason to toss them, it's time to bring them back to life with some visible mending techniques. Visible mending is a popular sustainable fashion practice. Instead of hiding the damage to your well loved garments, this movement turns holes into unique wearable art that extends the lifespan of your garments.
This two day mini workshop will certainly get you started down this fun and creative art form.
You will learn:
- repair techniques like darning, applique, blanket stitching
- textile assessment to chose the best method for your item
- tension control
- placement strategies
- knotting methods so your threads stay secure
You will need:
- a few items you would like to repair
- scraps of fabrics, felt
- embroidery floss, sashiko thread or yarns
We will provide:
- a set of mending needles
- any other tools needed for the class
