Shipping

Unfortunately, as of September 1st 2025, we have suspended shipping to the USA.  We value our American neighbours and customers, but at this time there is not enough clarity on how to get your purchases to you with predictable and reasonable costs that we can either collect on your behalf or communicate to you that you will have to pay upon delivery.  Given our small business size and small margins, we are not able to absorb any shipping or tariffs costs associated with shipping into the USA. 

Right now we are offering a $3 special on local delivery when you spend $25 or more on your order, or FREE when you spend over $75! 

Shipping Options

  • We offer a flat rate of $12 for shipping for all orders $149.99 and under (before taxes) being shipped within Canada .
  • Free shipping for all orders $150 and over (before taxes) being shipped within Canada.  Sewing machines are excluded from the free shipping offer.
  • We also offer local delivery with Trexity within the city of Ottawa and surrounding region. 
    • Next Day is $3 for orders $74.99 and under (before taxes) and free for orders over $75.00 (before taxes).
    • Same Day varies based on your location but ranges from $5-$22 for orders $149.99 and under (before taxes) and is free for orders $150 and over (before taxes).

We are happy to ship to customers all across Canada (and the world!) We endeavour to process your orders as quickly as we can, usually the day they come in, and ship them out as quickly as we can as well!  We ship out orders with Canada Post and other shipping providers on Tuesdays and Fridays.

I chose Flat Rate Shipping, when can I expect my order to arrive?

You will receive a tracking number when we print your shipping label.  We usually ship with Canada Post though we sometimes will use different shipping providers at our discretion.  We ship out orders on Tuesdays and Fridays.  You should receive your package within 2-7 business days after that, however, once the shipping provider has your package, it is out of our hands and we have no control over when it is delivered.  

Am I eligible for Trexity Delivery?

Below you can find a map with Trexity's delivery areas.  If you live within the blue area, Trexity will deliver to you.

I chose Next Day Local Trexity Delivery, when will I receive my order? 

When we create your Trexity label, you will receive an email asking you to review your address.  You will then be notified by email and text message from Trexity when your order is out for delivery.  Depending on when you place your order, you will receive it the next day or the day after.  If you place your order after closing, we have to request the delivery the day after the order was placed which means you would receive it the day after that.

I chose Trexity Local Delivery, when will I receive my order? 

When we create your Trexity label, you will receive an email asking you to review your address.  You will then be notified by email and text message from Trexity when your order is out for delivery.  Depending on when you place your order, you will receive it the same day or the next day.  If you place your order before 11:00 am and we are able to fulfill it within an hour, you should receive your order the same day.  Any orders placed after 11:00 am or if we are busy cutting orders, you may receive your order the next day.  

I want to combine two orders for shipping or pickup. Can I do that? 

Unfortunately, no. Well, not always.

There's significant added administrative work to finding your two orders, ensuring that we combine the correct orders, and that we sort them properly. We just can't take that time away from everyone else's orders.    

In the rare case that two orders shipping to the same person are on our shipping desk at the same time, we *may* at our discretion choose to combine those orders in order to save on our shipping costs.  If we find that there is a significant difference between what you paid for shipping for the multiple orders, and what we paid to ship them to you, we *may* refund the difference, at our discretion.

Returns

If you are not happy with your purchase, we want to hear about it!

Please contact us at hello@fabricationsottawa.com or call us at the store, 613-854-9091, and we will do what we can to make it right. In most cases, we will send you a return label to make it easier for you. 

Returned items must be unused and in the original packaging, with a receipt or proof of purchase. Your order number will do. 

We can not accept returns on:

  • Gift cards,
  • Sewing machines,
  • Digital Patterns,
  • Special orders, 
  • Sale items (only regular priced items may be refunded or exchanged), and
  • In some cases, cut fabric. 

PLEASE NOTE: We do our best to ensure colour accuracy in our product photos. (Our photographer is Amazing!) However, due to colour variances in every monitor and mobile device screen, we cannot guarantee that colours will be an exact match to what you see online. Please keep this in mind before completing your order.

I was given a gift from your store, but it's not what I wanted. Can I return it?

While we love that someone thought of Fabrications for their gift-giving, we get that gift-giving is tricky and not always quite right. We're more than happy to help you get exactly what you want and need! Please contact us at hello@fabricationsottawa.com and we'll see what we can do!

We will happily exchange or give store credit for items like unopened patterns, or notions and tools.

How long will it take for my refund to be processed?

While we make every effort to process refunds immediately, please allow us up to 5 business days to refund your purchase to your original form of payment. We will send you an email when we have processed your refund. It may take up to an additional 10 business days for the bank to process the transaction.
