Have you completed a few basic pieces and want to start sewing basic garments? PJ Pants are a great way to start. Choose a fun printed fabric and sew your own comfy pants for lounging or sleeping.
This class is three sessions. Please make sure you are able to attend all sessions.
Prerequisites:
- how to thread and use a sewing machine
- how to wind a bobbin
- how to construct simple seams
- be familiar with sewing terminology such as "right sides of fabric together" and "seam allowance"
You will learn:
- how to correctly measure your body for pants
- how to choose your size(s) based on your measurements
- how to cut out pattern pieces
- how to create an elastic casing
- how to hem pants
Will be provided:
- your choice of PJ Pant pattern. Choose from: Jalie Pull-On Pants and Shorts 12mos-22 or Jalie Martin Lounge Pants & Boxer Shorts 2yrs-2XL [You do not need to purchase the pattern as it is included in the class fee]
- any sewing tools needed for use during the class
- use of sewing machine during class
You will need:
- tracing paper
- suitable fabric for PJ Pants, in the quantity suggested by the pattern (please stop by the shop for help to determine how much you need!)
- quilting cotton works great for PJ pants. You can see what we have here.
- notions required by the pattern, such as elastic.
