Common Bodice Alterations Class (Intermediate/Advanced - Sewing)
Have your sewing skills progress but your fitting skills now need attention?? Maybe you've sewn a few projects but the fit is off, to wide in the shoulders, too big in the bust, or snug at the waist... learning to read your body shape and the pattern shape and then adjust your pattern can at times feel overwhelming. There are some very common bodice alterations that can help you achieve that fit you are looking for.
In this class you will learn some of the most common alterations to patterns for fit issues that can be encountered when making bodices and the class will be tailored towards your personal fitting issues.
This is a three session class. Please make sure you can attend all sessions. This class is also geared toward sewist who have successfully (even if the fit wasn't) completed several garments.
Prerequisites:
- A confident sewer who has made many garments, is comfortable with using trickier fabrics, and has
- some experience with fitting and minor alterations to patterns
You will learn how to:
- take your measurements and choose the appropriate size
- make common bodice alterations such as a full bust adjustment, narrow shoulder adjustments, adjusting darts...
You will need:
- 1.75m of muslin fabric.
- a copy of the Sorbetto Top Pattern version 3 by Seamwork. It is free and you can find it here.
***once on the download screen you'll want to be sure to download #2 the instructions and #21 for sizes 0-16 or #24 for sizes 18-26. Then email the shop and attach the AO file and we will have it printed and ready for class. - tracing paper
- a notebook for taking notes
Will be provided:
- free AO printing of the pattern
- a sewing machine for in class use
- all the necessary tools for a successful project
