This intermediate crochet class is a great way to build on your foundational skills from our Intro to Crochet classes (see prerequisites). This class introduces two fantastic new stitches: the X-stitch and the cluster stitch. The X-stitch creates a striking texture that looks like an "X" formed by crossing over stitches, shown in the purple square. The cluster stitch involves working multiple stitches into the same space to create a thick, dimensional effect, shown in the green square.
In addition to these new stitches, you’ll also practice working in front loops only and back loops only, and explore how to work your stitches into previous rows. These techniques will enable you to create textured patterns and intricate designs that will make your creations stand out.
By the end of the class, you’ll have created four textured crochet squares that can be transformed into a variety of projects, like the pillow cover shown. Whether you choose to turn them into a blanket (like the
full Stardust Melodies afghan), bag, or another creative piece, this class will expand your crochet toolkit and inspire new ideas for your future projects!
