Kelmscott Strawberries draws on an embroidered frieze by May Morris, created c.1909–1910 as a wall hanging for her sitting room at 8 Hammersmith Terrace. Inspired by the botanicals of Kelmscott Manor- the Morris family country retreat- and verses from her father’s poem ‘June’, this adaptation focuses on a strawberry plant, echoing William Morris’ iconic Strawberry Thief. Tiny blossoms and glossy berries weave through a leafy canopy, forming a playful, multidirectional fruit pattern.
