Learn the basics of quilting while creating a beautiful table runner. In this class, you’ll practice cutting, piecing, and pressing techniques as you sew your quilt top. Depending on your pace, you may only finish the top during class, but you’ll leave with the skills and knowledge to complete your project at home. You will make the simple star table runner (grey border example).
This class is three sessions. Please make sure you can attend all sessions.
Prerequisites:
- how to thread and use a sewing machine
- how to wind a bobbin
- how to construct simple seams
- be familiar with sewing terminology such as "right sides of fabric together" and "seam allowance"
Skills learned:
- How to use a rotary cutter and ruler
- How to maintain 1/4" seam allowances
- How to piece
- Basic quilting terms
You will need:
- 1 fat quarter for background
- 1/2 yard for border and binding
- 3-4 fat quarters for stars
- To finish your table runner you will need: 5/8 yard backing and a 15" x 42" piece of batting
We will provide:
- a copy of the pattern
- use of a sewing machine and any tools needed during class.
