Introduction to Koginzashi Sashiko Class (Advanced Beginner - Embroidery)

Koginzashi is a form of sashiko stitching that involves longer stitches of thread on aida cloth to create the design. In this class you will make the top of a bookmark that you can finish at home. You will learn how to stitch the design, and how to manage aida cloth. You will have a copy of the pattern for personal use. As part of the class, you will also learn how to make your own designs, should you want to do more after the class.
Prerequisites:
- it would be helpful if you have stitched aida cloth before or know the basics of sashiko or embroidery
You will learn:
- how to work with aida cloth
- how to stitch the design and create your own for later projects
- how to turn your fabric into a bookmark
We will provide:
- a piece of aida cloth
- a piece of fabric to finish your bookmark
- interfacing to help secure the finished piece
- tapestry/cross stitch needle
- sashiko thread
What you need to bring:
- a sashiko disk thimble (helpful but not required)
- thread snips or embroidery scissors
- any other tools you use for hand stitching (thimbles or thread gloss).
