Elastic Waist Pants Class (Intermediate Sewing)

Join our sewing class and learn how to make elastic waist pants! Versatile and comfortable, in a variety of fabrics, elastic waist pants are perfect for breezy summer days, cosy fall evenings and even smart office wear.
In this class, you'll learn how to choose the right fabric for the pants you want, the basics of pants fitting, how to add a neat and efficient in-seam pocket, and a variety of seam finishing and their uses.
This class is four sessions. Please make sure you are able to attend all sessions.
Prerequisites:
- Two or more Beginner Sewing and Advanced Beginner classes
- Or You must know how to operate a sewing machine and are familiar with simple garment construction
You will learn:
- how to correctly measure your body for pants
- how to choose your size(s) based on your measurements
- how to cut out pattern pieces
- how to create an elastic casing
- how to hem pants
- how to finish seams
Will be provided:
- any sewing tools needed for use during the class
- use of sewing machine during class
You will need:

An elastic waist pants pattern. We suggest the:

the Sew House 7 Free Range Slacks (available as 0- 24 and 18-34) or

the Sew Liberated Chanterelle Pants (available as 0-24 and 22-34)

tracing paper
- suitable fabric for the pattern you've chosen, in the quantity suggested by the pattern (please stop by the shop for help to determine how much you need!). Suggestions, soft and drapey fabric such as:
- Linen or linen blend
- Rayon
- Flannel, you can see what we have here.
- notions required by the pattern, such as elastic
- matching thread.
