Learn to Draft your own Sashiko Pattern Class
This is a skill teaching or a deepening of your Sashiko practice. There is no active stitching in this class!
In this class you will learn the fundamentals of drawing out traditional Sashiko designs by hand, using a pencil/pen and ruler. In class you will spend time drawing on paper, starting with creating a basic grid that you will then use to draw out your stitching lines. You will leave with the knowledge of how to create different Sashiko designs and understand which tools you may want to invest in for future use.
The class will also talk about how to best transfer your design onto fabric, whether its to strenghten the fabric or to do some visible mending. You can bring sample fabrics to ask questions about, however we will not have time to actively transfer designs in this session.
You will need;
- a pencil
- a pen
- plain white paper
- graph paper (if you have some)
- a 30cm ruler
You can find a list of our class policies here.
