Sew Your Own Quilted Sneakers Weekend Intensive Class (Advanced - Sewing)
Spend a fun weekend turning your favourite fabrics into a pair of stylish quilted sneakers! Over two relaxed hands-on days, you’ll learn the techniques needed to construct your sneakers from start to finish. By the end of the weekend, you’ll have two finished shoes to take home and show off!
When:
- Saturday, November 21th, 2026 - 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
- Sunday, November 22nd, 2026 - 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
Where:
- A private workspace in Britannia
You will learn:
- how to quilt your shoe uppers
- how to construct your shoe uppers
- how to insert eyelets
- how to stitch your uppers to the soles using a sewing awl
Prerequisites:
- to construct your quilted sneakers there is a lot of handwork that requires a good amount of hand strength and dexterity
- how to operate your sewing machine without assistance
- basic construction - right sides together, seam allowances, top stitching
Will be provided:
- A delicious lunch catered by Thyme & Again (please let us know if you have any food allergies/sensitivities)

- pair of cushioned insoles
- double-sided fusible foam for structure
- matching waxed thread
- 30 silver eyelets
- pair of matching shoelaces

- We will contact you by email to provide your size. Please see size chart to determine if you fit within the size range. Use the measurements to choose your size and not the shoe size as the soles tend to run big.

You will need to bring:
- a functioning sewing machine that is capable of quilting foam and your choice of exterior fabric
- a brand new 90/14 sewing machine needle appropriate for your exterior fabric and thread choice
- thread for quilting/top stitching your shoe uppers
- can be cotton or polyester
- want your stitches to stand out? choose a heavier thread like a 28wt or 12 wt (use 50wt or 40wt for the bobbin)
- can be cotton or polyester
- FQ of fabric for the exterior of the shoes
- you can use a variety of fabrics for the exterior
- quilting cotton
- lightweight canvas
- waxed canvas
- faux leather
- bonded nylon
- Harris Tweed
- waterproof poly or cotton canvas

- FQ of fabric for the lining - quilting cotton is recommended
