Serger Skill Building: Rachel Knit Dress Class (Advanced Beginner - Serger)

Now that you can confidently thread your serger it's time to start sewing all the knits with it!! Join us and sew up this surprisingly quick and easy Rachel Dress or Top with it's unique details. This pattern is so versatile that you can use it to dress up or down, in light knits for the summer or luxurious sweater knit for fall and winter. It will be a perfect complement to any closet!

This class is three sessions.  Please make sure you can attend all sessions.

Prerequisites:

  • Serger Basics (or you are able to confidently thread your serger)

You will learn:

  • learn how to cut accurately for serging
  • learn how to sew a knit garment on your serger
  • learn how to adjust your serger for nice smooth and flat seams

We will provide:

  • a copy of the Rachel pattern
  • any sewing tools needed during the class

You will need:

  • YOU WILL NEED TO BRING YOUR SERGER UNLESS YOU BORROW ONE OF THE STORE SERGERS 
    • The studio has TWO serger available for students.

      • if you are bringing your OWN serger, please select the ticket type 'Bring your own serger'
      • if you need to borrow the one serger we have, please select the ticket type 'Borrow our serger'
      • WE CANNOT AND DO NOT GUARANTEE that there will be a serger available for you to use if you do not select the appropriate ticket type.
      • If you are bringing your serger, please bring all accessories and instruction manual - please make sure your machine is in good working order and has all the parts needed.
  • light to medium weight knits with fluid drape, with 40% stretch, such as cotton jersey or bamboo spandex
    • yardage depends on top or dress version and size, 1.5m-2.75m
  • 4 cones of matching serger thread (your serger thread doesn't have to match exactly)
