Learn to Sew a Holiday Patchwork Envelope Pillow Cover

Have you been wanting to learn to sew? Come and join us and learn the basics while creating a beautiful holiday decorative pillow cover you can use year after year. Whether you want to learn to sew garments, quilts or bags, this class is the perfect first step to help you learn some of the most important basics. Plus you’ll end up with a piece you can show off at home or gift it to a loved one for the holidays, that’s a win win in our books. You’ll also end up with some skills to help you start your sewing journey. It's definitely not too late to learn a new skill in 2026!

This is a two session class.  Please make sure you can attend both sessions.

There are no prerequisites to take this class, just show up with your supplies, learn and have fun!

You will learn how to:

• Thread our classroom sewing machine
• Sew straight lines and follow a seam allowance
• Cut out a beginner project
• Sew pivot turns
• Use a ¼” foot
• Assemble a basic quilt block
• Lightly quilt a basic block
• Follow simple assembly instructions

You will need: 

• Quilting Cotton
  • You'll need roughly 1.5m of fabric, since we are doing patchwork, I recommend at least 6 colours. You can bring scraps or buy Fat Quarters or get several 0.25m cuts.  
• Matching thread (or choose a contrasting colour for easier visualization)

We will provide: 

• A written copy of the class instructions
• 18" pillow form 
• 18”x40” piece of batting
• Fusible quilt interfacing
• All the necessary sewing tools
• Use of a sewing machine during class.
