Fabric & Supplies

  • Main fabric: Light- to mid-weight knit (such as jersey, ITY, Liverpool knit, double knit, or ponte) with at least 25% horizontal and vertical stretch. There are two exceptions: Relaxed bodice: 25% horizontal, 10% vertical; A-line maxi: 0-10% vertical stretch is ideal.

  • Lining: Same fabric or lighter weight knit with same stretch for lining (square neckline required, optional for others)

  • Interfacing: Lightweight stretch interfacing for turtle neckband (optional)

  • Elastic: 1.5 yd (1.4 m) of 1" (2.5 cm) wide elastic for elasticated waistband; Clear elastic for shoulder seams (¾ yds/0.7 m), slash pocket openings (⅜ yd/0.3 m), and/or waist seam (1 yd/0.9 m) (all optional)

  • Needles & thread: Ballpoint or stretch needle; Thread; Twin needle (optional for hem)

  • Additional notions: Fusible hem tape, maximum 6 yds (5.5 m) (optional)
