Ready to transform that sewing machine from a mysterious contraption to your trusty crafting companion? This class will help you understand your sewing machine and sewing machine basics. Bring in your sewing machine and learn all about how to use it.
You will learn:
- The different parts of a sewing machine
- How to thread your sewing machine
- How to wind a bobbin
- What stitches your machine has and how to select them
- How to trouble shoot common machine issues
- How to remove lint and other debris from inside your machine
- How to stitch with your machine
- The different sewing machine feet
You Will Need to Bring: (For you to be successful in this class, it is very important to make sure that you are able to bring all of the following items)
- Your sewing machine (your sewing machine must be in working order and have all the parts needed) and power cord
- A bobbin that fits your machine (this is very important and if you are unsure what type of bobbin your machine takes, please check your manual)
- Any accessories it came with - especially feet and attachments
- A copy of the manual (If you do not have a manual for your machine, they can often be found online - search your machine brand and model number)
- Notebook and pencil
We will provide:
- white or black thread
- muslin for sewing test stitches
- a copy of You and Your Sewing Machine - A Sewists Guide to Troubleshooting, Maintenance by Bernie Tobisch
You also have the option to use one of our sewing machines to learn sewing machine basics. Please choose the "Borrow Our Sewing Machine" option.
