Explore the foundation of garment constructions basics classes. Ever wondered when and
where to use bias bindings or facings on woven necklines/armholes? Then this class is for you!
We will explore different ways to finish necklines with bias binding. You will learn to sew
facings without it peaking out to the front of the garment and how to clean finish the facings to
elevate your garments to the next level. Time permitting, you will learn how to sew an all-in-one
facing as a bonus lesson.
Please note that this class is for learning the skills only and you will not have a finished project
at the end of this class. However, you will have neckline samples for future reference.
Prerequisites:
● How to thread and use a sewing machine
● How to wind a bobbin
● How to construct simple seams
● Be familiar with basic sewing terminology
● Familiar with basic garment construction
You will learn:
● Three ways to sew bias bound neckline/armhole
● Sew neckline facing
● Three ways to clean finish facing
● How to make continuous bias binding
● Two ways to stay a woven neckline
● Bonus lesson: all-in-one facing (time permitted)
We will provide:
● Pattern pieces for partial bodice
● Thread
● Sewing machine
● Any tools necessary during class
You will need:
● Approximately 1m shirting fabric
● Fat quarters for bias binding
