Explore the foundation of garment constructions basics classes with this new darts class. This is where the magic of sewing starts! Taking a flat, two-dimensional piece of fabric and transforming it into a three-dimensional garment to cover the curves of our bodies. We will explore different ways to mark and sew darts to get a polished finish to your garments. How to properly press them to get a smooth pucker free result.
Please note that this class is for learning the skills only and you will not have a finished project at the end of this class. However, you will have samples for future reference.
Prerequisites:
- How to thread and use a sewing machine
- How to wind a bobbin
- How to construct simple seams
- Be familiar with basic sewing terminology
- Familiar with basic garment construction
- Marking darts
- Sewing darts two different ways
- Pressing darts to get a smooth pucker free finish
- How to move darts on your pattern for a better fit

- Double pointed or fishtail darts
