One of my most used sewing projects… a simple grocery tote. They are big enough for boxes of cereal, jugs of juice and all the fresh veggies you could ever need in a week. A bonus is that I no longer forget my bags because these ones are cute and get all the compliments!! The best part is that they are absolutely beginner friendly! Once you’ve made one you’ll be able to make a whole stack of them to rotate through. I even use them as beach bags.
This class has no prerequisites!! You just need to come out and have fun!!
You will learn how to:
- Sew in a straight line and maintain a seam allowance
- Finish the raw edges so they don’t fray
- Attach webbing for handles and support
- How to create box corners
You will need:
- Fabric: consider fabrics like canvases, twill, denim. Look for what would be considered bottom weight fabrics.
- For 45” wide fabric, 1.5m; For 54” wide fabric, 1m
- Extra may be needed if your fabric has a directional print
- Matching thread (or contrast thread for easier visualization)
- 1 coordinating FT for some interior bottle pockets
- 3m of webbing, any width.
We will provide:
- All the sewing tools needed
- A print out of the instructions
- Use of a sewing machine during class
A list of our class policies can be found here.
Minimum enrollment is 3, maximum is 5.
