Lined Tote Bag Class (Advanced Beginner - Sewing)

This tote bag is great for trips to the library, taking projects on the go, or shopping at your favourite local textile shop!  The bag has a box base so you can store things flat like lunch containers, market items, or books as well as webbing straps for a secure hold.

Prerequisites:

  • You should know how to operate a sewing machine such as how to thread a machine, winding a bobbin, sewing a consistent seam.

You will learn:

  • How to create a boxy base
  • How to measure and cut fabric to follow the pattern

You will need:

  • 0.5m of quilting cotton or 2 Fat Quarters
  • 2m of cotton twill tape
  • matching thread

We will provide:

  • a copy of the pattern
  • use of a sewing machine and any tools needed during class

You will need:

  • ½ m for interior fabric (matching or contrast thread recommended)
  • ½ m for exterior fabric (matching thread recommended)
  • OR 1 m if you want the bag to be all one colour
  • 1 m of SF 101, or ½ m of a comparable interfacing that is at least 40" wide
  • 1.5 - 2 m of webbing depending on how long you want the straps to be
