Learn to Sew: Tote Bag Class (Beginner - Sewing)

Learn to sew this extra large and easy tote bag perfect to carry a towel, your favourite book, sunscreen, a snack, and the kitchen sink

Prerequisites: The willingness to use your hands and fingers to manipulate fabric, use scissors, a sewing machine, and dust off your geometry skills.

Skills learned:

• Measuring
• Cutting with a rotary cutter and ruler
• Ironing and pressing
• How to thread a sewing machine and wind a bobbin
• Sewing a seam on a sewing machine
• Topstitching
• Back-tacking
• Finishing

Materials Provided:

• A copy of the pattern 
• Use of a sewing machine and any sewing tools needed during class

Materials Needed:  

• 1.5 meters of 100% cotton canvas fabric (it should be prewashed)
• 1 meter of 100% cotton lining fabric (quilting cotton works great) (should also be prewashed)
• Optional: 2 m of cotton webbing for straps
• Coordinating thread
