Create a Beautiful Drum Lampshade Class (Special Interest)

Unleash your creativity and brighten up your space! In this hands-on class, you’ll transform fabric into a unique, custom lampshade. Whether you’re upcycling old favourites or working with fresh designs, you’ll learn the skills to craft something truly one-of-a-kind. Perfect for beginners and seasoned crafters alike—come with your favourite fabric and leave with a glowing masterpiece!  Students will leave with your own unique 20, 30 or 40 cm diameter (please choose the size you would like) drum lampshade that can be used as a hanging pendant or on a lamp of their choice.

This class has no prerequisites!! Just come on out, have fun and learn something new. 

You will learn how to:

• use fabric to create a stunning custom lampshade.
• apply the fabric to PVC to get the best look.
• attach the rings and create neat rolled edges.
• use the best technique with plenty of other tips and tricks. 

We will provide:

• all the necessary tools for a successful project 
• all the essential hardware needed to create your lampshade
  • you can pick one of three sizes - small 20cm, medium 30cm, large 40cm
  • Shades can be used as a hanging pendant or on a lamp base of their choice. They will fit on harp/finial, UK and EU lamps.

What you need to bring:

• a light to medium weight cotton, linen or polyester fabric. 
   

  • Small - 75 cm X 25 cm / 30 inch X 10 inch piece of fabric

  • Medium - 106 cm X 28 cm /42.4 inches X 11.2 inches

  • Large - 137 cm X 32 cm /54.8 inches X 12.8 inches

    **Note: if the pattern you pick has a larger repeat design bring a larger panel so you can explore your options to optimize the design on your shade.

    ***Fabrics with very loose weave, stretch, uneven or shiny surfaces are not suitable. Also, if you have a fabric that has a distinct top and bottom to the design you should know in advance of the workshop what lamp you will be attaching it to.  It makes a difference on how you position the rings.
