Sew Your Own Jean Jacket Class (Advanced - Sewing)

You’ve been holding onto the denim jacket pattern since you first started sewing, but were
always afraid to attempt it on your own. Now is the time! With assistance from our instructor, in
a small and supportive class environment, you’ll tackling making the denim jacket of your
dreams. Don’t have a jacket pattern but want to make one? Ask us for recommendations on
patterns.
This is a five session class. Please make sure you can attend all sessions.
Prerequisites:
- how to operate a sewing machine without assistance
- familiarity with sewing garments and how to read a pattern
- comfortable sewing with trickier fabrics (slippery, thick, etc.)
- experience with minor fitting and alterations (i.e. lengthening a pattern)
You will learn:
- how to sew with denim
- how to adjust the jacket pattern to fit your measurements
- how to sew sew buttons and/or place snaps and/or install rivets
- how to sew a collar and placket
You will need:
- tracing paper
- jean jacket pattern - If you do not have a preferred pattern, we can recommend Rockette Jacket, Stevie Jean Jacket, Hampton Jean Jacket and the Audrey Jean Jacket
- canvas, denim or twill - how much depending on pattern chosen
- notions for your pattern
- matching thread
- topstitching thread
Will be provided:
- sewing machine to use during class
- any sewing tools or notions needed during class
