The Reeta Shirt Dress is the dress of the summer!  The details are timeless and the dress
looks great on all bodies.  Reeta is a classic, loose-fitting shirt dress with simple but thought-out details. This timeless sewing pattern features pleated breast pockets, a shirt collar, and a waist gathered with a cord. The turn-ups of the t-shirt sleeves and the deep vents on the midi-length hem add a carefree character to the dress.

This class is four sessions.  Please make sure you can attend all sessions.

Prerequisites:

  • Experience successfully completing several sewing projects; this class will not cover basic sewing machine operations
  • Familiarity with cutting out a sewing pattern and notching instructions
  • Familiarity with using a sewing pattern

Skills learned:

  • Taking your measurements and picking the correct pattern size
  • Following a pattern
  • Sewing on a collar
  • Topstitching pockets
  • Sewing a button placket and making buttonholes
  • Set in sleeves

Materials Provided:

  • A copy of the pattern
  • Any sewing tools needed
  • A sewing machine to use in class

Materials Needed:

  • Tracing paper
  • Fabric: Choose a lightweight or medium weight non-stretch shirting, like a cotton, linen, blend or rayon challis.
  • Matching thread
  • Fusible interfacing suitable for your fabric, 140 cm (1 1/2 yd)
  • Small buttons, 10 pcs
  • 2 cm (3/4”) ribbon for drawstring casing, 160 cm (1 3/4 yd)
  • Cord for drawstring, your waist circumference + 70 cm (3/4 yd)
