How to Match Plaids and Stripes - Alder Shirt/Shirtdress Class (Intermediate - Sewing)
$215.00
Have you ever avoided sewing up some really beautiful fabric because it's striped or - gasp! - plaid? Fear not! Checks, stripes and plaids matching is really easy! (It only looks hard because so many RTW manufacturers get it so badly wrong.) Join this class and make the Alder shirtdress by Grainline Studio with Catherine and learn to match those stripes and plaids. Learn to create a two-piece collar and place buttonholes too!
Prequisites:
This is an intermediate class, you should have taken some beginner classes and be comfortable with threading and using a sewing machine, sewing curves and cutting patterns and basic garment construction. There will be homework.
You will learn:
- How to determine your correct size and how to make some basic pattern adjustments.
- How to match plaids and stripes and the ins-and-outs of directional plaids, stripes and other patterns.
- How to construct a two-piece collar, mark and sew buttonholes.
- How to sew darts.
What is provided:
- Grainline Studio Alder shirtdress pattern (The pattern can be altered to make a shirt instead of a shirtdress)
- Sewing machine and all the sewing tools required to use during class.
You will need:
- Plaid or striped fabric to make your preferred version of the Alder dress. If the stripe, check or plaid is small, you will need about 1/2 meter more than the pattern recommendation. If it's a larger check, stripe or plaid, you will need about 1 metre more.
