Construction Basics: Hand Sewing Stitches for Garments

Learn the essential hand stitches to elevate your garment construction.   These are the basic stitches used in couture sewing. Put some slow stitch love into your garments and make them extra special.  You will learn 10 different hand stitches from the humble basting stitch all the way to the flat fell stitch.  As a little bonus, you will learn how to sew buttons onto a garment to ensure they are securely in place.

What you will learn:  

• 10 basic hand sewing stitches 
• Hand sewn button with shank
• Start and stop your hand stitches 

We will provide:

• Muslin
• Thread
• Hand sewing needle 

What to bring:

• Pair of snips or small scissors
